International
Intermediary
Forum

Supporting professionals who address communication barriers in justice contexts around the world.

Why this work matters

Many children and adults experience significant barriers to effective communication in justice contexts. This can occur in police interviews, court appearances and trials, family group conferences, restorative justice meetings, and parole board hearings.

Different names, shared purpose

These professionals are known by different names around the world, for example communications assistants, justice intermediaries, and communication support specialists.

The International Intermediary Forum

A group of these professionals has formed the International Intermediary Forum. We meet virtually several times a year to network and share knowledge, skills, and resources to support our work and the people we serve.

Open Annual Meeting

We hold an open annual meeting, usually in October.
Information about participation will be shared nearer the time.

Growing knowledge, global impact

More information about the work of intermediaries
around the world will be added over time.
